360 Collaborating With Daniel Johns, The Presets For Next Album

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns and The Presets are set to feature on ARIA Award winning rapper 360‘s next album.

Speaking to Music Feeds yesterday, the Boys Like You artist confirmed Johns’ involvement after teasing a new track, Impossible – featuring vocals from a singer who sounded suspiciously like Johns – back in May.

At first reticent to discuss Johns’ involvement, Sixty eventually spilled the beans, saying, “Daniel Johns is on the album. The song’s called Impossible. That’s 100%.” Elaborating on the collaboration, 360 says that the snippet we’ve heard of Impossible is “not even the best bit” of the track, and that Johns is doing things we’ve never heard him do before:

“It’s a fuckin’ crazy track, it’s totally epic, and I don’t think people are gonna expect what it is, to be honest. It’s some hard shit, and then when old mate comes in he’s on the piano and he’s singing… His voice, you would never expect it to come out of his mouth. He’s found himself soulfully right now; he’s on another plane with his voice. He’s ridiculous. I can’t wait for people to hear that.”

Impossible might not be the only team-up we heard from Johns and Sixty – they’re writing more tunes together right now:

“I’m actually going to Daniel Johns’ house on Sunday to work with him for three days and that’s just to write songs together… possibly for other people, possibly some choruses for my shit”

Speaking on The Presets involvement, the rapper revealed that the duo will be lending their hands to at least one track, and that he got in touch with the electro duo after being inspired by the lyrics to 2008 track My People, a song about boat people in Australian detention centres:

“[My People] is so sick! If you listen to that song again, you’ll see that’s what the song’s about. When I found that out, I was like, ‘I have to work with that dude. That’s fuckin’ genius!'”

360 is slowly hyping the follow-up to 2011’s Falling & Flying, which went platinum in Australia. With collaborators like Daniel Johns and The Presets, he might just record a new personal best.
