51 People Injured By Lightning Strike At German Festival

51 concertgoers were hurt and nine sustained serious injuries after a lightning bolt struck a mast at the With Full Force Festival in Leipzig, Germany on the weekend.

Blabbermouth, Spiegel Online and The Local reported that the lightning strike sent some fans flying through the air, with emergency services spending several hours treating the injured at the scene.  Several punters also sheltered for cover at a nearby cocktail bar.

The venue turned into a chaos zone, with tents destroyed and puddles flooding through the venue.

This year’s With Full Force Festival attracted tens of thousands of punters, and was headlined by Machine Head, Heaven Shall Burn, Soulfly and Cannibal Corpse.
