Additional Tickets To Be Released for The Strokes in Melbourne

The Frontier Touring Co and Secret Sounds announce the release of final production tickets for THE STROKES show at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Friday July 30th.

From the press release:

A limited number of general release tickets will go on sale from Ticketmaster this FRIDAY JULY 16TH at 9.00am sharp. These tickets are expected to sell fast, so for those who missed out the first time around, here’s a final opportunity to nab tickets to the hottest show in town!

The promoters are also delighted to announce details of two openers confirmed to warm up the stage for THE STROKES later this month.

When they formed in 2001, THE LIKE members were only in their teens. But with a lifetime of listening to music care of their respective parents (who include industry heavyweights such as producer Mitchell Froom), Elizabeth “Z” Berg (vocals/guitar), Charlotte Froom (bass/vocals) and Tennessee Thomas, all took piano lessons before teaching themselves their current instruments. Following the departure of Charlotte, the band are now a four piece with Laena Geronimo on bass and Annie Monroe on organ completing the line-up. The band released their first album, Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking?, in September, 2005. The album consisted of a combination of reworked songs previously released on their independent EPs as well as new material. The new album by THE LIKE is Release Me. Largely produced by Mark Ronson, it’s due for release in Australia on July 23rd. A new single called He’s Not A Boy is at radio now!

Up and coming Australian duo GYPSY & THE CAT will also make an appearance opening for The Strokes. 21-year-olds Xavier Bacash & Lionel Towers only began making music in a garage in Melbourne a year ago and quickly enticed the love from Australian radio network triple j who play-listed a demo of the track ‘Jona Vark’. After producing and recording their album in their Melbourne home studio, Gypsy & the Cat have now moved to London and are mixing their debut album with David Fridmann. Their debut single ‘Time to Wander’ is a lush and fresh song that combines contemporary electro with folk-pop and soft, warm vocals with a catchy cosmic hook. Influenced by a mixture of musical legends ranging from Fleetwood Mac to Jeff Buckley and modern DJs from Justice to Daft Punk, GYPSY & THE CAT make the perfect summer sunshine music.
