Adele Accepting Her BRIT Award Is The Most Perfect Thing Ever

There’s an endearing contradiction about Adele that you’ve probably noticed.

When she sings, she is a paragon of grace, elegance and beauty.

However, when she talks, she sounds like the British version of Sharon Strzelecki from Kath & Kim.

Or kind of like a cross between Russell Brand and the Computer Says No chick from Little Britain.

But Adele’s rough cockney accent and loud, give-no-fucks attitude are all part of her charm.

She’s just so real, you know?

And Adele reached critical levels of Adele at the 2016 BRIT Awards, where she took home the Global Success trophy for her new album, 25.

After getting announced as the recipient by an astronaut who was beamed live from the mother-flipping international space station, Adele immediately burst into tears, “My kid is going to think I’m so cool,” she joked.

“I got really lost for a while, I didn’t know if I’d ever come back,” she stammered. “For you to be so kind to me, it means so much.”

Her acceptance speech was filled with tears, a healthy dose of profanities and her trademark boisterous cockney humour.

“Not bad for a girl from Tottenham that don’t like flying, getting global success!”

Not only did she scoop up the Global Success Award and extra gongs for British Album of the Year and Best Female Artist, she also performed an incredible rendition of her 25 standout When We Were Young, which more than made up for her slightly lacklustre Grammys performance.

Watch the video of that, along with her acceptance speech below, and just try not to go “Nawwwww!”

Meanwhile, the 2016 BRIT Awards also saw Australia’s own Tame Impala scoop the gong for Best International Group, while Lorde performed a stirring David Bowie tribute.
