Adele Says She Rejected An Invitation To Play Super Bowl But It Turns Out She Was Never Asked

A report that Adele was to headline the 2017 Super Bowl half time show was shot down promptly by the British singer who said she was asked and declined but now it turns out she was never even asked.

The Sun originally reported that the National Football League (NFL) bosses were desperately trying to lock down Adele for the show which has previously been done by the likes of Beyoncé, Prince and Katy Perry.

Then, Adele told the audience during her Los Angeles concert, “I’m not doing the Super Bowl.”

“I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really — I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”

“Maybe next time, in my next album. I’m going to do a dance album next time. So, maybe I’d do it then,” she further joked.

Adele shouldn’t worry about not being able to dance though because neither can Chris Martin of Coldplay who performed this year and he just flanked himself with two of the best dancers in the world.

But that’s beside the point because as it turns out she wasn’t even asked to do the Super Bowl. The NFL and half time sponsor Pepsi released a joint statement saying that while they’re fans of Adele, she was never formally offered.

“We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else,” they said (via Billboard).

“We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”

The Super Bowl will happen on 5th February 2017 but it seems Adele definitely won’t be there.
