Speaking at a talk in London last night, UK Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said that the October 2011 issue, which featured Adele on the cover, was one of the worst sellers in Vogue’s 96-year history. “Adele is the most popular woman in the world, but one of the worst sellers we’ve ever had”, she said.
Shulman went on to say that one of their most popular covers didn’t feature anyone at all. “I find there has to be a relationship with the person on the cover that goes beyond how they look. Our most successful cover was the millennium issue – which didn’t have anyone on it, but acted like a mirror so you could see your own reflection.”
Recently, an old class mate of Adele’s released footage from her younger days. In the video she is seen playing guitar and singing for her school mates, while hanging out smoking cigarettes. Check it out below:
