The announcement of the title of Against Me!‘s latest studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, let everyone know that they should prepare themselves for a heavy release from the Floridian punk rockers, and lead single FUCKMYLIFE666 has confirmed those first suspicions.
The track sees frontlady Laura Jane Grace and co. — including featuring Fat Mike of NOFX on bass — delve straight into the topic of the album, addressing the misery that can come with transgender dysphoria.
Grace, born Tom Gable, recently spoke of the importance of the message she wished to impart with the forthcoming album, which only features two of the original line up, and listening to FUCKMYLIFE666, it’s obvious what she meant by these remarks.
The album was tracked at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 and is the first offering from the band since Grace first told Rolling Stone that she identified as a transgender person, making international headlines as the first high-profile musician do to so.
