Amanda Palmer Disrobes Onstage Over ‘Daily Mail’ Slight

Amanda Palmer recently took to the stage in London to protest UK paper Daily Mail‘s coverage of her performance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. In the piece, the Brit paper chose to ignore her musical performance and instead focused on an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

Naturally unhappy with the amount of attention paid to her nip-slip, Palmer decided to respond to the paper at a recent performance at London’s Roundhouse. In true Amanda Palmer style, she penned a protest song and encouraged fans to film the performance and upload it to YouTube to spread her message and ensure that it gets to its target.

In the lyrics, Palmer describes the Daily Mail as a “misogynist pile of twats” and declares defiantly “Dear Daily Mail, up yours!” before striking a final blow to the newspaper:

But a rag is a rag, and far be it from me / To go censoring anyone– oh no / It appears that my entire body is currently / Trying to escape this kimono!

Palmer then proceeded to remove her clothing and sang the rest of the tune naked. Palmer’s disrobing was met with cheers and applause from the crowd but begs the question – was she really expecting better from the Daily Mail?
