UPDATE 25/08/16: Angel Olsen has announced a full scale Australian tour.
To compliment her slots at this year’s Fairgrounds Festival and Meredith Festival, the inimitable indie queen Angel Olsen will be performing an intimate, close-quarters show at the Sydney Opera House Studio this December.
Olsen will be bringing her band, her brand new album My Woman, and the gems contained within. So far off the album we’ve heard three tracks, Interns, Shut Up Kiss Me and Sister, the latter of which just received its own music video.
Those familiar with the Missouri-raised singer-songwriter will recall her 2012 performance at the Opera House, where she performed alongside Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy to a bursting Concert Hall. After that she toured down under in early 2015.
The Sydney Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall, says, “It’s an honour to welcome the electricity, charm and power of Angel Olsen to the Sydney Opera House.
“Four years ago her extraordinary voice wowed audiences with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and the Cairo Gang; she has since let a much wider audience survey the internal landscape she maps with atmosphere, darkness and a swirling, enchanting energy. This won’t be the last time we welcome her to the Opera House and we’re thrilled to have her back.”
My Woman has an official street date of Friday, 2nd September, meaning fans will have plenty of time to soak themselves in new music before Angel Olsen hits Aussie shores.
