Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor’, Said To Feature David Bowie, Leaks Ahead Of Release

Much like being bitten after dangling a treat in front of a dog, Arcade Fire have had the lead single Reflektor from their forthcoming album leaked following an extensive and otherwise successful guerilla marketing campaign.

The first listen to the track lends serious credibility to rumours that the great David Bowie would be somehow involved in the project – it certainly sounds like him.

The effective use of sax, a dancey beat and what is most likely David Bowie’s voice at the 4:50 mark will no doubt result in this becoming a radio hit (though we may have to wait for the radio edit of the 8-minute epic).

Though the track might be a noticeable departure from what we’ve heard previously from Arcade Fire, it makes sense considering the influence LCD Soundsystem main man James Murphy will have on the record as producer.

The jam has been locked in for a release today since director Anton Corbijn spilled the beans that a video he directed for the tune would be coming 9th September alongside a 12″ release of the single.

That 12″ has since started popping up in record stores all over the world, including just one in Australia, with employees posting details and cover art to social media. The track will be getting its official debut on triple j at 9pm tonight.

According to triple j, Reflektor is the title track from Arcade Fire’s fourth LP, due for release 29th October. The band will be supporting the record Down Under early next year as part of Big Day Out 2014.
