After the success of I’ll Be Your Mirror, All Tomorrow’s Parties have made the incredibly sensible move of bringing yet another festival to Australia for 2013 – the Halloween-themed Release The Bats festival will be hitting Melbourne in October and, in conjunction with RRR, ATP will be bringing none other than The Breeders, The Jesus Lizard, The Scientists, Fuck Buttons and more to Melbourne for yet another alternative extravaganza.
Headlining Release The Bats, The Breeders are about to hit the circuit in Europe and the US once again for their Last Splash 20th Anniversary Tour, and now, as hoped, Australia gets to relive the Last Splash love as Kim and Kelley Deal play the entirety of their seminal album from start to finish. The Breeders name is synonymous with lo-fi ’90s alternative rock and, seeing as Australia is the last stop on the tour so far, the show is bound to be polished and shined, ready to impress us for the first time since their 2008 tour.
Returning to their I’ll Be Your Mirror stomping grounds of Altona, ATP will again be hosting their festival at the curiously appropriate venue of the Westgate Centre, where last time punters found a variety of activities laid out to amuse them among the various recreational rooms. Seeing as we’ll be in a cooler season, we can perhaps hope for a less sweaty experience than before.
ATP’s festival success here is now a well-established fact, and although we aren’t the best at celebrating Halloween, due to the fact that this is a 1-day festival and that there are more bands of the highest calibre yet to be announced, tickets are sure to be snapped up quick smart when they go on sale TOMORROW MORNING at 9am. Get your clicking fingers ready, folks – you don’t want to miss this!
