The debut instalment of waterslide music festival Slideapalooza has been forced to flush its super-soaked lineup, following issues involving the local council.
The pants-moistening summer event, which is set to go down in the New South Wales’ Hunter Valley across the Australia Day long weekend, was set to feature performances from the likes of DJs Will Sparks and Joel Fletcher, rockers The Delta Riggs, Alex Lahey and more as part of its Slide N Lights and Slide N Sounds sessions on Saturday, 28th of January.
But organisers have confirmed to Music Feeds that the artists will no longer be performing at the festival, due to “some issues with council”.
“This is not an outcome we expected but we will look to hold the entertainment side of the event later in the year potentially in a different region or state,” organisers report, after previously confirming to Music Feeds that they’ve been hard at work on plans to bring the new event (and its fuck-off giant slides) to punters in Brisbane and Melbourne in 2017.
A Facebook event is also currently calling for expressions of interest for a Sydney leg.
But for now, punters hitting the Hunter Valley event in a few weeks’ time will still be able to slide their fun-loving butts down one of the epic 400-metre adult waterslides on the Calais Estate winery’s big hill, but it seems that — at least this time around — the sound of their own splashes, childlike giggles and yells of “Cowabunga you motherfucker!” will have to serve as the only music to their ears.
Slideapalooza will run from Thursday, 26th January til Sunday, 29th January 2017, with it’s Sunday morning slide sesh now sold out.
