Aussies Dominating SxSW 3rd Announcement

Written by Michael Carr on December 6, 2011

In the third line-up announcement so far, the ever-growing SxSW Music Conference in Austin has released a large number of Australian artists that will be visiting the lovely Texas capital early next year (full list below). SxSW, seen by many in the industry as the most important conference of its kind and a hotbed for burgeoning and undiscovered talent, has with each year seen a stronger and stronger Australian presence, with next year proving the trend.

Full line-up of Australian Artists at SxSW
(no order)

Grace Woodroofe
Voltaire Twins
The Vasco Era
Sparkadia
Pets With Pets
Emma Louise
Kimbra
Jonti
Gold Fields
Electric Jellyfish
Electric Empire
Dead Letter Circus
Clubfeet
Busby Marou
The Art
The Black Ryder
Big Scary
Lanie Lane
Oh Mercy

A great sign that Australian music is making more and more inroads overseas, it’s great to see such a large range of genres and styles represented. Everything from the shiny pop and hip hop of Jonti to the chilled-out disco of Clubfeet, and the spaced-out psychedelia of The Black Ryder making its way over Texas way.

Still, with only so many opportunities on offer and an ever-increasing amount of bands, the fact this might be the best representation of Australian artists at SxSW to date may be somewhat overshadowed by the fact it’s also probably the toughest. Still all the best to our fellow ‘strayans’ over there.

For a full line-up of artists as well as any other information on the conference visit the SxSW website here.
