The Australian Ambassador For Record Store Day Has Been Announced

Written by Sam Murphy on March 15, 2016

After the biggest Record Store Day ever last year, the occasion for vinyl enthusiasts is returning and Ella Hooper has been announced as the Australian ambassador for the day.

Hooper is best known for fronting Killing Heidi but has since gone onto make up one half of The Verses, appear on ABC music trivia show Spicks & Specks and release solo material.

“I’m a lifelong fan of the independent record store experience and am thrilled to support the vital role that these stores still play in the music scene, as this year’s ambassador,” Hooper said in a statement.

“I’ll be making a dash to a few of my favourite stores old and new on the day and maybe sing a few new songs along the way too. I can’t wait!!”

She’ll be among many attempting to pick up a number of limited addition vinyl releases including wax from David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Madonna and Metallica. The latter are the international ambassadors for Record Store Day.

Record Store Day is about even more than just the special addition vinyl though. There will also be live performances, BBQs and treasure hunts at your local participating record store.

It’s all set to go down Saturday, 16th April. You can see what record stores are getting involved here.
