Babymetal Release First New Song In Two Years ‘Distortion’

Japanese heavy metal group Babymetal have dropped their first new song since 2016 ‘Distortion’.

‘Distortion’ ushers in a darker sound for the band and was dropped out of nowhere much to fans’ surprise.

It’s the first song they’ve released since the passing of guitarist Mikio Fujioka and the formation of their own record label.

You better prepare yourself for this one because it’s accompanying video is a wildly dark ride, matching the intensity of the song.

As the band explained in a press release, “On April 1, known as “Fox Day”, a new prophecy was revealed. The prophecy revealed that up until now we have only experienced the Light Side and there exists an unknown Dark Side, a legend of seven metal spirits The Chosen Seven.”

“‘Distortion’ explores the unrevealed Dark Side, the Apocrypha, the legend of seven metal spirits in which power is distorted through time and space. The music video of this song presents this unknown side and marks the important beginning of a new legend.”

The track comes ahead of a forthcoming world tour which unfortunately doesn’t include Australia just yet.
