Bareback Titty Squad Play World’s First Live-Instrumental DJ Set

Those guys in underwear who went viral last year with their 32-minute medley covering every song on Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown are back at it again. Bareback Titty Squad have this year added nine minutes to their performance, taking on the first ever live instrumental DJ set.

The medley is inspired by 2013’s DJ Mag Top 100 poll, an annual publication that aims to establish the most popular DJ in the world. “We intend to combine at least one track from each DJ featured on the list,” BBTS told inthemix last year. “As the list does not specify any particular track, we have the opportunity to embody the DJ and carefully select each track individually.”

Complete with “BBTS Radio” DJ call outs and instructions on “how to produce a club track today” the band rip through covers of 100 EDM standards. From Armin van Buuren to Skrillex, Calvin Harris and covering Deadmau5‘s previous cover of Living On A Prayer, no dance music stone is left unturned.

The Melbourne trio became an internet sensation last year when, using a single set of drums, guitar and bass, undertook the mammoth task of re-creating the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown in half an hour, without even stopping to catch their breath.

The video achieved some pretty staggering success, garnering over 200,000 views from all over the world in less than 48 hours and prompted a string of east coast tour dates, solidifying their popularity. It also allowed the band to attempt this new feat.

Bareback Titty Squad have already set up a pozible crowd-funding campaign for their next project which they say will take them back to their Australian roots, taking on the soon to be announced Triple J’s Hottest 100 2013.

“Never before have mashups been played in this way or on this scale, giving us the opportunity to revolutionise both band and DJ by creating an entirely new genre of music in front of a global audience,” say the band in their online campaign.
