Benefit Show Announced For Aussie Metal Guitarist Glen Barrie Who Died Unexpectedly In Thailand

Tragedy struck in Thailand earlier this month, with guitarist of Brisbane deathcore group As Paradise Falls, Glen Barrie, passing away unexpectedly in his sleep while the band were in town recording their next album.

The devastating news has rocked the Australian heavy metal community, who are now rallying around the band (who had been scheduled to perform with their idols I Killed The Prom Queen in Bangkok the day after Barrie was found dead) and Barrie’s pregnant wife, Cassie.

As Paradise Falls’ manager, Tom Byrnes has teamed up with Vanguard Touring, Destroy All Lines and an army of supporters and friends to organise a benefit show on Friday November 27th at Brisbane venue, The Brightside.

The bill will be packed with bands whose lives have been touched by Glen – including A Breach of Silence, Among the Vanished, Bayharbour, Down Royale, Trinatyde and, of course, As Paradise Falls – with 100% of the funds raised to go straight to Glen’s family.

The night will also feature a massive raffle worth over $1000 in prizes from Seventh Circle Studio, Via Studios, Beserk, Bach Guitar Services, The Brightside, plus a merch pack from the bands themselves.

Tickets go on sale from this Thursday, 19th November. And those who can’t make it also have the option of donating to a GoFundMe campaign for Glen’s wife here.

Glen Barrie passed away peacefully in his sleep at Thailand’s Karma Sound Studios on Monday, 9th November. He was 26.

He’s being remembered as a positive, keen, helpful and happy guy who was always up for a show.
