It’s a dark day today for country music fans as CNN.com reports that legendary musician Arthel ‘Doc’ Watson has passed away due to complications related to colon surgery.

Watson was a key figure in both the Bluegrass and Country Western genres. Blinded a short time after birth, he led a long and active career, releasing over 50 albums and earning himself a plethora of awards, including seven Grammy awards and, in 2004, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Native of North Carolina is survived by his wife, Rosa Lee Carlton. He was aged 89. Enjoy one of his best known tracks below!
