Bon Iver to Release Custom Sneakers

Indie folk rocker Justin Vernon aka Bon Iver has teamed up with Keep Company to become the latest musical artist with a custom pair of sneakers available for purchase. In the case of Vernon, his self-designed the Keep + Bon Iver shoe (pictured below) will help support the Best Friends Animal Society, which is an organisation that operates the largest sanctuary for abandoned and abused animals in the US.

Keep describes the shoe as featuring “herringbone accents, a black fishbone detail across the toe, and a canvas upper custom dyed to a perfect pale salmon”. The sneakers are $75 (US presumably) a pair and can be pre-ordered up until July 1, 2012.

Of course Bon Iver is just one of countless musicians to have ventured into fashion. Last month Music Feeds reported on Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy 2, which was released on June 9, 2012. Lana Del Rey also created her own custom sneakers in 2009 for Keds; while Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino has her own clothing line Urban Outfitters.

And if you can cast your mind back to 2007, you might recall these spiffy board shorts from Billabong and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers
