Cat Power Announces Rescheduled Australian Tour Dates

Cat Power has announced a new set of dates for her Australian tour after having to pull out of the original dates due to illness.

The American singer has announced that shows will go ahead this May in several venues around the country, including Sydney’s City Recital Hall, Brisbane’s Powerhouse Theatre and Melbourne’s Recital Hall.

Cat Power, AKA Chan Marshall, suffers from Hereditary Angioedema (HAE), a rare and potentially fatal blood disease that “causes swelling around the throat, oesophagus and internal organs.” After having to cancel Australian shows last month, she has voiced her delight that the tour is back on and said she is determined not to let her fans down.

“I’ve been looking forward for so long to return to my home away from home and I wasn’t going to let this debilitating illness deprive me or anyone else of that opportunity,” Power says. “I’m so glad to be making it back to Australia”.

Last month was the first time she has ever had to postpone any Australian shows due to her condition since she began playing over here 18 years ago. However, it has lead her to reschedule European tour dates in the past.

All tickets purchased for the original shows will be valid for the new dates, with further tickets going on sale on Friday 4 March. The tour will feature Power up close and personal playing old and new songs solo.
