Written by Brayden Darke on June 19, 2012

Chan Marshall aka Cat Power has revealed details about her upcoming new album Sun, which will be released this September. The album, which will contain 11 tracks, was recorded and produced by her in various locations, including a studio she built in Malibu. A preview video has also been released with the album’s official announcement, which you can watch below.

Sun
will be her ninth studio album and first proper original release in over six years, with 2008’s Jukebox (which was more of a covers album) being released in the interim.

The first track released from the album will be Ruin, which has been released for free as a taster for the album. You can download it from her label Matador right here, right now.

She recently released a new track King Rides By (which isn’t on the new album) with boxer Manny Pacquiao, to help raise funds for the Festival of Children Foundation. Listen and watch the clip here.

Australian release for the new album is expected for around the date of September 4th.
