Cher Apologises For Calling Tony Abbott A “Twiddle Tosser” On Twitter

Written by Tom Williams on July 15, 2016

The goldmine that is Cher‘s Twitter account has spawned another ALL-CAPS gem, with the If I Could Turn Back Time singer apologising after ‘mistakenly’ calling Australia’s former Prime Minister Tony Abbott a “twiddle tosser”.

Late yesterday, in response to a fan thanking her for calling newly-appointed UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson a “fucking idiot”, Cher posted a photo of Johnson with old mate Tone, with some rather interesting insults attached, kind of like an extra-sassy drunk aunty would after she’s made her first Twitter account:

Since the post, Cher has returned to Twitter — her caps-lock key is still stuck, we presume — to apologise for the comments, saying she confused Abbott for Nigel Farage from the right-wing UK Independence Party.

When a fan replied with “they are indeed country-buggering twunts”, Cher responded by saying:

For reference, here’s what Farage actually looks like:

Abbott is yet to publicly react to Cher’s Twitter gaffe, but we bet he’d love to Turn Back Time as well.

Cher has previously used her Twitter account to, well, tweet lots of strange things, including her thoughts on iCloud, Hitler, Gummy Bears, dinner and Donald Trump. She’s also known for her sometimes odd placement of emoji.

Here are some of our favourites, both new and old:
