Chet Faker Unveils Animated Video For ‘1998’

Melbourne-based producer Chet Faker has just released his long awaited debut album Built On Glass, announced national tour dates and now has unveiled the video for the banging house-influenced track 1998.

The intriguing video features graphics that seem to be inspired by the era of track’s namesake. Director Domenico Bartolo guides illustrations by Grace Lee as the central figure morphs from a shadow, into Chet Faker, into a Darth Vader-lookalike and back.

According to Faker, the house track left the biggest impression at Falls Festival where he played it to the 15,000 strong crowd. “It’s a banger. It sticks out for everyone,” he told the Herald Sun. “I wrote in a studio in North Melbourne and had most of my breakthroughs when I pulled all-nighters.

“I had this feeling,” added the singer/producer. “It occurred to me that people might define me from this album,” he said. “It was the first house song I’ve ever finished. Everyone likes a banger.”
