Children’s Play Centre Apologises After Employee Wearing Slipknot Mask Scares Kids

A children’s play centre in southern England has apologised after parents complained about a staff member who was allegedly scaring children while wearing a replica of a mask once worn by Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor.

As Kent Online reports, the Adventure Kidz centre in Aylesford received complaints that the mask — which was being worn as part of the centre’s Halloween celebrations — was scaring some children.

Local mum Charlotte Nolan said she was shocked when the employee wearing the mask start chasing her children around the play centre.

“A lot of children were crying and visibly upset,” she said.

“I think the costume was completely inappropriate being in a soft play area for 10 years and below… There are plenty more appropriate costumes they could wear, they could have done Frankenstein or Dracula, they just didn’t need a man in a mask.”

Some kids didn’t seem to mind it, though, with one parent posting a photo to Facebook (above) with the caption, “Brilliant day today… thank you very much.”

In a statement, Adventure Kidz owner Andrew Moody apologised “to anyone who feels this is inappropriate”.

“After the customer’s complaint the costume was removed and has not been worn since. Once again Adventure Kidz apologise for this.”

Moody also told Kent Online that the centre had warned parents that staff would be dressed as monsters for Halloween, and claimed that he and his staff had received a number of abusive messages on social media.

“I honestly feel bullying my staff is from my point of view just not on,” he said. “This is unacceptable and has to stop.”

It’s still unclear what Corey Taylor thinks of the whole thing.
