City Calm Down’s Album Will Be Finished Just Two Weeks From Now

Melbourne five-piece City Calm Down are a couple of shows into their nation-wide tour off the back of their new single ‘Blood,’ but now the band have revealed a new record could be out sooner than we thought.

Their debut record In A Restless House was released in 2015 to widespread acclaim, and speaking with triple j band members Jack Bourke and Sam Mullaly said the new record is just around the corner.

“I reckon we are two and a bit weeks away from finishing it,” Jack said. “We’re currently mixing it, which has taken us a bit longer than it did last time, primarily because we’re all working four days a week.”

They also spoke about what the forthcoming second City Calm Down album might sound like, revealing they’ve expanded their instrumentation but have kept their sound will remain in keeping with their previous work.

“We’ve expanded what the horn section guys do, there’s a bit more percussion happening,” Sam said. “We’ve tried to go one step further with keeping everything live – there’s a couple of samples, but [mostly] people playing additional parts.”

Check out the remaining dates on their 2017 Australian tour, below. Their next show is in Melbourne this Friday, 1st September.
