Central Coast, it’s on. Coaster, The Central Coast’s very own music festival is back for the second year in a row!

After last year’s amazing sold out event, this year promises to be even bigger and better! With a jaw-dropping line-up featuring international acts and including a who’s who of the best bands Australia has to offer, Coaster is set to rock the Central Coast on Saturday 12 September 2009!

So, without further ado, we can finally reveal a glimpse of who will be partying with us at Coaster 2009:

They’ve come a long way since Sweater. Formed in 1997, multi ARIA award winners ESKIMO JOE are one of Australia’s most enduring contemporary rock bands. An honest and accomplished masterpiece that captures the band’s finest hour in their career to date, Eskimo Joe’s brand new album Inshalla debuted at #1 of the ARIA Charts this week. From the success of their acclaimed debut album, Girl through to Inshalla, Eskimo Joe’s ability to evolve and create masterful and original pop songs is a testament to their longevity. Witness why Eskimo Joe are one of the greatest Australian bands at Coaster this year!

Sydney-based trio BLISS N ESO have been championing Aussie hip hop for ten phenomenal years and getting better as they go. Their latest album Flying Colours, debuted in the top 10 of the Australian charts (another milestone for Australian hip-hop), became the highest selling hip-hop record the same year and with their third nomination in as many years, Bliss N Eso took out the ARIA Award for 2008’s Best Urban Release. See these three troublemakers from Sydney’s suburbs stir it up at Coaster!

UK electro punks DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? are returning to Australian shores for Coaster 2009. Straddling the cavernous divide between dirty rock and electronic music, the band have drawn comparisons to !!!, Digitalism and Justice. Armed with their unmistakable blend of driving electro rock, Does It Offend You, Yeah? are set to get the Coaster crowd tearing up the dance floor with their explosive live show. If D.I.O.Y.Y don’t get you dancing, there must be something wrong with you! Be there when Does It Offend You, Yeah? sets Coaster alight!

ARIA and AIR Award nominees BRITISH INDIA have toured relentlessly, earning themselves legions of fans nationally with their explosive live shows. Since the release of their debut album Guillotine followed a year later by their second album Thieves (both of which were feature albums on triple j), British India have had a meteoric rise to fame the past two years. Prepare to be blown away when British India storm the stage at Coaster!

When it comes to thought provoking, street-bred raw lyricism, the Wu-Tang Clan’s fountain of wisdom, GZA/GENIUS takes his job very seriously. The way he crafts his double-edged rhyme flow mirrors the skill and precise technique of one who works with fine ceramics. GZA/GENIUS (WU TANG CLAN)’s metaphoric and multi-layered lyrics are often touted by critics as his rap name implies: genius. So listen up and listen hard when GZA/GENIUS hits Coaster in 2009!

Legend has it LA rock band THE BRONX will bring any crowd into a state of rowdy mad mosh mania. Stories speak of ear-bleeding rock, frenzied crowd-surfing by the band and fans and utter chaos. Fact or fiction? Put this legend to the test when these no frills hard rocking, party punk band wreak havoc on the Coaster stage!

Sydneysiders VAN SHE have cut their musical teeth supporting Australian heavyweights such as The Presets, End Of Fashion and Faker. Their debut album ‘V’ was recorded in London and saw the band working with noted producer Jim Abbiss who has collaborated with illustrious acts such as the Artic Monkeys, Ladytron & Kasabian. This June, Van She will release a remix album entitled Ze Vemixes. Be sure to catch Van She when they bring their own brand of synthesised moon rock to Coaster this September!

Indie dance heroes GRAFTON PRIMARY are bringing the party to the Coaster this September. This lyrical electro-noir trio has consistently defied expectations, whether it be with their original tracks or remixes for the likes of Faker and Jackson Jackson. Playing to rapturous packed houses has become the norm for Grafton Primary. With their debut album Eon scoring a UK deal, this three piece are showing no signs of slowing down. Grafton Primary are guaranteed to get you on the dance floor at Coaster!

Hailing from Los Angeles, THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT are making their Australian debut at Coaster. Having earned themselves a solid reputation built on their fervent and cathartic live shows, The Airborne Toxic Event have been mesmerising audiences worldwide. Now it’s Australia’s turn. The live energy created by their soaring, jagged songs is nothing short of infectious and will leave you wanting more. Be one of the first in Australia to see The Airborne Toxic Event live at Coaster!

After witnessing CHILDREN COLLIDE whipping the crowd into a frenzy at Coaster last year, we just had to invite them back! 2008 was a stellar year for the Melbourne three piece. Their debut album ‘The Long Now’ was released in October to critical acclaim
and ranked in the top 20 of Rolling Stone’s Top Albums Of 2008. Don’t miss Children Collide rock Coaster again in 2009!

Ever since THE FUMES exploded onto the Aussie rock scene in 2004 with a self-titled EP and the critically-acclaimed debut album Guns Of Gold in 2006, the infamous blues-rock duo have left slack jaws, ringing ears and wagging tongues in their wake. The Fumes’ second album, Sundancer was produced by Detroit-based garage-auteur Jim Diamond (The White Stripes). The album not only sees them hone their dirty blues-rock aesthetic, smokin’ grooves and classic ‘70s-style gritty rock, but capture the ferocious, stripped-down aural assault they deliver live. Prepare to get down and dirty at Coaster with The Fumes!

Emerging from the shadows of Melbourne’s hip hop underground, PEZ burst onto the forefront of the Australian musical landscape with his break through single The Festival Song. Taken from his stunning debut album “A Mind Of My Own”, The Festival Song has attracted numerous accolades for the young MC; reaching No. 7 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 and 11 on the ARIA Australian Singles chart just to name a few. Be there when Pez gets the crowd bouncing at Coaster!

Sydney-based NZ-export GIN WIGMORE is a distinctive singer/songwriter, whose sound is driven by a startling voice and outstandingly honest songs; her delivery has been succinctly described by a critic as ‘whiskey and dry’ and her self-penned songs provide a refreshing new take on life as a ’20-something’ and yet relate across the generations. Fall in love with Gin Wigmore when she graces Coaster’s stage to treat us with songs from her upcoming debut album out later this year.

Australia’s own AJAX is fast becoming legend as an electroclash mash-up DJ known for his musical irreverence, and cut and paste mixing style. Recognised by international greats such as Mylo and Tiga as a talent to watch, Ajax is a founding member of Australian collective, production outfit and record label Bang Gang (Modular). Get ready to party when Ajax tears up the dancefloor at Coaster.

Purveyors of glorious backyard summer pop melodies THE JOHN STEEL SINGERS are bringing the sunshine to Coaster! In May, the band captivated audiences across the UK with their dreamy tunes and amassed an army of fans. With their a debut album slated for release later this year, 2009 is already shaping up to be a huge year for the Brisbane based sextet. Catch The John Steel Singers at Coaster – fresh from their UK tour!

UK-based, Aussie maestros of rock THE SCARE have been touring relentlessly this year, supporting Wolf & Cub nationally as well as playing their own shows and testing out new material from their forthcoming album Ooze Voodoo. Produced by Silverchair front man Daniel Johns, Ooze Voodoo was recorded at The Grove studios on the Central Coast and will be unleashed in July. Be prepared for an explosive set from The Scare at Coaster!

Terrigal, Central Coast locals SLOW DOWN HONEY believe in the 3-minute pop song. Their crackling, electric blend of
catchy melodies and layered harmonies that find an unexpected meeting place in the sounds of Elvis Costello, The Cars and Wilco, with a good measure of the Clash thrown in to speed things along. Catch Slow Down Honey firing up that stage at Coaster.

Hailing from Ballarat in Victoria YACHT CLUB DJS have become local heroes on the party scene. They don’t do genres, they just do fun. Luckily for us they’re heading up to Gosford for Coaster this year!

With a line-up this big and more to be announced, make sure you don’t miss out on Coaster 2009! This is just merely the tip of the iceberg.
