Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cody ChesnuTT is bringing his blend of revelatory R’n’B and gospel-tinged southern soul to Australia this October for shows in Sydney and Brisbane, off the back of his second full-length album, Landing On A Hundred.
ChesnuTT’s been described as what might happen if you combined equal parts James Brown and Otis Redding, added a splash of Hendrix and a dash of old-time swagger. You probably know him best for his vocals on The Roots’ smash hit The Seed or his 2002 debut The Headphone Masterpiece, after the release of which he took a hiatus from music to focus on family and do a little bit o’ artistic reflection.
The release of Landing On A Hundred – slang for telling the whole truth – has marked his return to the scene, with the soulful record meditating on themes of redemption, as well as the power and challenge of a slow-burning love. Tickets for the tour go on sale at 9:00am AEST this Friday, 2nd August via Live Nation.
