Coldplay Launch Comic Series For ‘Mylo Xyloto’

Consequence of Sound have reported that Coldplay have joined forces with Academy Award-nominated writer/director Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda) in order to create a six-part comic series titled Mylo Xyloto, which will be launched this week at San Diego Comic-Con International.

According to Rolling Stone, Osborne developed the concept of Mylo Xyloto three years ago with the comic book series delving into the world of the character and giving more detail to the creation that helped inspire Coldplay’s 2011 record of the same name.

“Gradually Mylo’s story and universe came together, and this ended up providing the backdrop for the album and tour,” Coldplay said.

In an official statement, Osborne described the comic book as, “the latest expression of a music-driven feature animated film that the band and I started developing several years ago.”

“It is the story of Mylo Xyloto, a young Silencer on the front lines of a war against sound and color in the world of Silencia. Mylo discovers that the enemy he’s been trained to hate his whole life might not be the enemy after all. There will hopefully be many, many connections for people who have heard the album,” Osborne stated.

The debut issue of Mylo Xyloto (cover art pictured above) will be available for purchase at the San Diego Convention Center, after which the entire six-part series will go on sale in monthly instalments from the beginning of February 2013.
