Coldplay’s Chris Martin Imitates Mick Jagger, Covers Bowie, Spoons James Corden In ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Having already had Adele, Justin Bieber and One Direction in the passenger’s seat, James Corden‘s Carpool Karaoke is becoming one of the most star-studded segments on TV, and he’s just added another name to that list, Chris Martin.

The Late Late Show‘s Corden is forced to pick up a hitchhiking Martin on his way to the Super Bowl, where he is set to play the halftime set with Coldplay, and Corden’s anger quickly turns to joy as the pair run through Coldplay’s back catalogue.

The pair sing Yellow, Viva La Vida, Paradise and the band’s latest Adventure Of A Lifetime but it’s Martin’s impression of Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen that are particularly impressive. While discussing in-between-song banter, he imitates the masters, telling us that there’s “one secret” to talking like Jagger, “you have to go from high to low.”

Out of nowhere, Martin then pulls out a keyboard and together they cover the late, great David Bowie’s Heroes. Coldplay drummer Will Champion recently revealed that Bowie turned down a collaboration with the band because it was “not a very good song.” It seems, however, that Martin isn’t holding any grudges.

Coldplay will take to the stage with Beyoncé for the Super Bowl half time show on Sunday, 7th February which will be Monday in Australia.
