Daft Punk To Appear At VMAs, Cancel ‘Colbert’ Due To MTV Contract

Daft Punk fans the world over were giddy with excitement at the thought of the pair appearing on tonight’s episode of The Colbert Report but word has now come through that the appearance fell through. It’s also been revealed the reason for the cancellation lies within contractual obligations between the duo and MTV.

It seems that, due to the fact they agreed to perform at the upcoming MTV VMAs, Daft Punk are unable to perform on television in the lead up to the ceremony. There is little doubt that the band were going to perform at least Get Lucky but now we will have to wait. The Frenchmen were also locked in to headline this years StePhest Colbchella event, though it’s unclear how the cancellation will affect this.

Never fear, as the oh-so-hot-right-now Robin Thicke rose to the occasion and filled their place on their show where he performed his equally overexposed single Blurred Lines.

On the flip side, the VMAs are shaping up to be a cracker of an event. MTV have confirmed via Facebook other high profile artists including Kanye West who will taking to the VMA stage for the 7th year and Lady Gaga who is expected to perform her new single, also locked in.
