Dan Sultan Apologises For “Inexcusable” Behaviour At His Show In Cairns Over The Weekend

UPDATE: Dan Sultan Postpones Tour After Apologising For “Disrespectful” Behaviour

ORIGINAL STORY: Dan Sultan has taken to Facebook to make a brief statement regarding his behaviour at his performance at Tanks Art Centre in Cairns, calling his actions “inexcusable and disrespectful.”

“I want to apologise to all of my fans, particularly those who were at the Cairns show on Saturday night,” he said.

“My behaviour was inexcusable and disrespectful. I’d also like to extend an apology to the staff at Tanks Arts Centre for what occurred. I am taking stock of my personal situation and am seeking professional help.”

The statement comes after claims that Sultan was intoxicated during his performance, to the point where he couldn’t actually deliver the standard of performance people are used to from him.

One commenter made note of his performance of his collaboration with A.B. Original, ‘My Kingdom’, saying he “butchered” it.

“Wish I hadn’t seen you play it live last night… don’t think it will ever make me feel the way it did before,” the commenter said. “Seeing a wasted and arrogant man butchering what was such a powerful song.”

Double J reports that other commenters said that the performance was a “sad spectacle” and it “was like watching a train wreck.”
