Dark Mofo 2018 Announces Venue Changes & New Tickets On Sale Due To “Unprecedented Demand”

Tassie’s Dark Mofo has a few updates for fans heading down to this year’s festival of devilish delights.

Due to an insane and “unprecedented demand”, organisers of Mona Foma’s goth older sister have announced a plan to boost capacity on two sold-out shows in Hobart this June.

Venue changes have been announced for the Berlin Atonal-curated ‘Laterne’ on June 21st and 22nd as well as the experimental ‘Borderlands’ showcase on June 23rd, with both shows relocating to a bigger venue at MAC2 (Macquarie Wharf Shed No.2 on Hunter St, Hobart).

Both avant garde music & art showcases feature a suite of stunning musical performances from the likes of Fia Fiell, Omelas, Japan’s Group A, Sweden’s Peder Mannerfelt, Altar and Britain’s Demdike Stare with Michael England and loads more.

While the venue changes won’t affect current ticketholders — who are set to receive emails containing replacement tickets in the coming days — it means more tickets will now go on sale to peeps in the waiting list and the general public.

Organisers of Dark Mofo report that the first two days of ticket sales skyrocketed past a nutso 25,000 purchases, totalling more than $1.5 million in box office revenue, with 66% of those sold to interstate and international punters.

Way to go you Dark Mofos!!!

The sixth annual festival recently announced it 2018 programme, featuring the likes of singer-songwriter St Vincent, ex-Crystal Castles frontwoman Alice Glass, dark wave artist Zola Jesus and loads more.

It’s set to take place in and around Hobart in the dead of winter this June.
