Darude’s ‘Sandstorm’ Was Remixed By An Actual Orchestra

Vivid Sydney has seen some pretty incredible live performances thus far, from Bon Iver to Ta-Ku, and with Bjork lighting up Carriageworks over the weekend. But few would have thought that Sydney’s festival of sound and light would be a happy hunting ground for ’90s ravers.

It may come as a surprise, but, as Inthemix report, Darude‘s Sandstorm has made an appearance at Vivid Live at the City Recital Hall, as part of a special show by the Sydney Youth Orchestra called IGNITE. The show was a reinterpreting and remixing of club tracks from the ’90s in an orchestral setting – and boy do the crowd love it when Sandstorm begins to play.

Sandstorm is the gift that just keeps on giving. Darude’s 1999 hit has risen to cult status in the past few years – with Da Rude himself even making an appearance at the now defunct Future Music Festival in 2015.
