Dead Can Dance Start On Reunion Album – 2012 Australian Tour To Come

Ethereal Neoclassical duo Dead Can Dance have followed up on news from early last year that they would be reforming to do a new album with possible tour dates to come. Last night they posted a message via their Facebook page saying that:

2012 ! We have started working on the album and the World Tour is taking shape….we will be announcing news in the coming weeks!

The world tour will include Australian tour dates as well as dates in Asia South America.

Brendan Perry had wrote on his official forum last year saying, “I have been talking with Lisa Gerrard this past week with regard to recording a new DCD album this coming winter. We hope to complete the album by the summer of 2012 and then embark on an extensive two-month world tour in late 2012.”

This reunion will be the second time the duo has reformed since disbanding in the late 90s, and the first new album since their 1996 release Spiritchaser.

Gerrard and Perry both met in Melbourne in the early 80s. Frustrated by the limitations of the city’s music scene, the band moved to London in 1982. After being rejected by various labels who found their style too non-conformist, they eventually signed with legendary label 4AD, along with the likes of The Birthday Party, Pixies, Cocteau Twins and Throwing Muses.
