Deftones’ Chino Moreno Will Become The First Musician To Perform Inside A Volcano

Adding to his established reputation as a total badass, Chino Moreno is set to play a show inside an actual volcano.

The Deftones frontman will become the first muso ever to stage a concert deep within a flaming Hole In The Earth, when he’s lowered 400 feet inside Iceland’s dormant Thrihnuagigur volcano this weekend as part of the country’s totally ridic annual Secret Solstice Festival.

(NB: this is the same festival that boasts the world’s most expensive festival ticket, going fo a cool $1 million, which entitles the buyer to – among other things – helicopter rides and performances inside glaciers. Presumably, these are the same lucky cashed-up SOBs who’ll be lowered into the earth’s fiery guts alongside Mr. Moreno.)

He’ll play in front of a crowd of just 20 fans, and hopefully they’ll be the only ones erupting over his performance AMIRITE? (FYI Thrihnuagigur hasn’t erupted in 4,000 years so prospects look good).

Taking place across June 16th – 19th in Reykjavík, Secret Solstice will also feature performances by Radiohead, Of Monsters and Men and Die Antwoord, plus a full band set from Deftones.

Meanwhile, Aussie fans can catch Chino & co playing some more ~traditional~ venues when they visit our shores to tour their brand new album, Gore, this November.
