Die! Die! Die! is one of those bands whose presence has been felt in the music scene even without them physically being there. Their minimal sounds, non-threatening tones and the like have seen them build and build their fan base since their debut release in 2005. Now with their 2012 Harmony set to take the crown of Album of the Year, the band has announced a triumphant return to Aussie shores.
Though they won’t have to come too far to make it. Hatching out of New Zealand’s ‘Rock City’ of sorts, Dunedin, the band has secured a loyal following, both domestically and internationally. They produce one of those live sets that leaves you standing there with your mouth slightly open, making you forget about your drink/ciggie in hand and just watching the controlled chaos that is unravelling on stage.
The band will be in town supporting their latest release Harmony. Recorded in France, the team, who usually maintain a strong sense of DIY, enlisted the expertise of Chris Townend (Portishead, D12, Violent Femmes) the result of which was a sound that fused their punk rock mind state with some of the stability of pop music elements, and of course injected the thing with plenty of their live performance pizzaz.
