Disturbed Have Broken Their Hiatus, And New Music Is Imminent

Prepare to get down with the sickness once again because Disturbed have just triggered the official end of their four-year hiatus.

To signal that the dawn is nigh, the heavy metal titans have installed a countdown clock on their official website, which is scheduled to run out at 10pm tonight, our time.

Dave Draiman & co have also been dropping plates hints across social media of their impending resurrection, unveiling a new logo and a handful of videos depicting their band mascot, known affectionately as ‘The Guy’ awaking from a deep sleep (below).

As Blabbermouth reports, the big announcement, once the clock ticks down to zero, is expected to include the unveiling of Disturbed’s first new music since 2010, as well as the initial details of their new LP.

While the band themselves have yet to confirm the existence of such a disc, rumblings back in April suggested that the politically-charged hard rock act had entered a Las Vegas recording studio with hotshot producer Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Hellyeah) to begin work on some hiatus-breaking new material.

Disturbed have been on sabbatical since completing the touring cycle for their most recent album, Asylum, which brought them to Australia in 2011.

And Disturbed Ones can hold out hope that a new album will likely mean the band are preparing to return to our shores once again at some point soon.

As for their prospects for Soundwave 2016? Festival boss AJ Maddah previously tweeted: “[I’m] not messing w no @DAVIDMDRAIMAN. He’ll tell me when he is ready :)”.

Well AJ, sounds like, after four years off, he just might be.

UPDATE 26/06/15: Disturbed have officially broken their hiatus by unleashing their first single in 4 years, The Vengeful One, along with a music video and details of their forthcoming sixth studio album, Immortalized. Read more here.
