Does It Offend You, Yeah? Go On Hiatus

British electronic rock group Does It Offend You, Yeah? have decided to go on hiatus for the “foreseeable future”, and the group have posted a message on their Facebook wall.

Releasing their first album You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into back in 2008, and going on to become one of the top ten most listened to bands on Last.fm that year, they Looked set to become a major label success, signing to Virgin and touring worldwide. But their second album Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You was a very different picture. Facing pressure from the label to write more commercial music, the band went through a tortuous year-and-a-half long process of going back and forth with the label about the songs and the band’s direction.

Now here we are in 2012, and it appears that they all want to focus on other projects. James and Dan are working on a new EP together, with the other three members sure to have something in the works.

The last time they visited Australia was on the Splendour in the Grass 2011 lineup.

Here is the statement posted on their Facebook wall:

“Hello Everyone

We’d just like to announce that DIOYY is now on hiatus for the foreseeable future.

After five years touring the world, playing alongside some of our favourite bands and visiting some awesome countries we’ve decided to concentrate on other projects. James and Dan are working on a new EP for a purely electronic project which we’ll bring you news on soon, we’ll also keep you informed of what Chloe, Rob and Mattie are up to. We might do the odd very special gig if our schedules permit it.

Thanks to all our fans and see you on the flip side.

DIOYY x”
