Download Festival Australia To Be Announced In October, Say Former Soundwave Promoters

UPDATE: The Download Festival Australia Website Is Now Live

ORIGINAL STORY: The long-awaited Australian leg of Download Festival is likely to be announced in October, according to two former promoters of the now-defunct Soundwave Festival.

Chris O’Brien, who is now General Manager Of Touring at local promoter Destroy All Lines, has taken to Twitter to say that Download will announce its Aussie debut “next month”.

Meanwhile, former Soundwave head honcho AJ Maddah — who (like O’Brien) isn’t believed to be working with Download Festival — says we should expect an announcement in “a few weeks”. He has also told people on Twitter that the festival is “99%” going ahead, possibly in March 2018.

Back in July, Maddah claimed that Download Festival was “talking to two amazing headliners” for its Australian debut.

Music Feeds first broke news of Download Festival’s plans for Australia last year, before touring company Live Nation purchased the Australian domain name for Download Festival.
