Dream Theater Stream ‘The Enemy Inside’ From Upcoming Self-Titled LP

The iconic Dream Theater have today released a brand-new single titled The Enemy Inside. The track a feature on the band’s upcoming self-titled studio offering, the 12th in their catalogue. The band have been busy bees on the record, which is expected to be released as soon as this coming September.

The band hit studio hibernation at the start of January this year at New York’s Cove City Sound Studios with guitarist John Petrucci at the helm for production. This record will also feature the band’s new drummer Mike Mangini, who managed to jump on board just in time to catch the tour cycle for the band’s previous release, 2011’s A Dramatic Turn of Events.

That particular release was sure to have inspired the quick turn around for the band given that it was their first Grammy-nominated release and put the band in Billboards Top 10 albums for the first time ever. However, Petrucci has explained that as far as Dream Theater is concerned each album is a totally new adventure:

“I see every new album as an opportunity to start over, to either build or improve upon a direction that has been evolving over time or to completely break new ground. This is the first self-titled album of our career, and there is nothing I can think of that makes a statement of musical and creative identity stronger than that. We’ve fully explored all of the elements that make us unique, from the epic and intense to the atmospheric and cinematic. We’re incredibly excited about Dream Theater and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

The record has been given a US release date of Monday, 24th September, so expect to see it on Australian shores some time around that date.
