Drive-By Truckers To Release Best-Of

Durable southern rockers Drive-By Truckers have announced that a new best-of compilation is on the way, a record that covers the band’s career from 1998 up to 2009.

Pitchfork reports that the LP, entitled Ugly Buildings, Whores & Politicians: Greatest Hits 1998-2009 comes out on August 2 via New West records. The album was produced and mixed by David Barbe, who has produced and played with the band right from their inception, while none other than Rolling Stone‘s David Fricke supplies the album’s liner notes.

Drive-By Truckers released their first album, Gangstabilly, in 1998 with Pizza Deliverance following in 1999. The album widely regarded as being their finest is probably Southern Rock Opera, their third album.

The band’s last album was Go-Go Boots, their ninth LP in total released in February of this year through Play It Again Sam Records.

The band are about to embark on a US tour in support of the best-of. The tracklisting to Ugly Buildings, Whores & Politicians: Greatest Hits 1998-2009 is:
