DZ Deathrays BBC Radio 1 To Premiere New Single ‘No Sleep’

It’s been a crazy last 12 months for Brisbane duo DZ Deathrays. After signing to Melbourne based record label I OH YOU early last year and releasing their 2nd EP Brutal Tapes as well as their debut EP in Europe, Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley have quickly impressed music lovers and critics across the world.

Since the first house party they ever played, the duo have been noted as a relentless live act. 2011 proved to be no different with the two friends hitting the highways of Australia with many acts, including Foo Fighters, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, F**ked Up and Dananananaykroyd. They also made several trips overseas including performances at SXSW and The Great Escape, shows with Band of Skulls, Male Bonding, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and finally full tours of the UK with NYC punk band Cerebral Ballzy and the NME Radar tour.

Upon returning to Australia in early November 2011, Shane and Simon finally ventured into the studio to record their highly anticipated debut LP with Richard Pike (of PVT) and Neil Coombe at the White Room Studios in Mt Nebo. What they surfaced with is a killer album that we’re thrilled to be able to present to you later this year.

Now it’s been announced that DZ Deathrays will be dropping the first taste of their debut album this week, premiering the track No Sleep the UK’s BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday night (UK time) and be available on iTunes in Australia and the UK from the 27th of January.

They’ll be touring nationally on the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2012 line-up, before heading off to Europe and North America.
