Elbow Finally Name Sixth Album

British alternative rockers Elbow have announced the title of their sixth studio release, the follow-up to 2011’s acclaimed Build a Rocket Boys!, as The Take Off And Landing Of Everything, having previously revealed the working title as All At Once. A release date is scheduled for early March.

Elbow frontman Guy Garvey initially told NME that the Manchester outfit’s sixth studio effort had the aforementioned working title, before informing them that the final product would be called Carry Her, Carry Me, with The Take Off And Landing Of Everything the product of a last-minute change.

“It always happens, this. The title’s now from a song on there; this huge, cacophonous thing born of our love for space rock, prog, Primal Scream and Spiritualized,” Garvey told Q magazine, via NME. “It’s to do with the fact that there have been lots of life events… There are five members of the band, people have split up, go together, had children, it never stops,” Garvey said of the new album’s title.

Work on the new album began back in 2012, when bass player Pete Turner confirmed to NME that the band had entered the studio, saying, “We’ve already started working on our next one up in Manchester, and we’ve got about ten songs ready. It’s too early to say what it sounds like.”
