Elton John Hospitalised Due To “Potentially Deadly” Bacterial Infection

Sir Elton John became hospitalised recently, spending two nights in intensive care and spending an “extended” amount of time in hospital after becoming “violently ill” on an aeroplane.

Fairfax Media reports that the British musician was travelling home after wrapping up his tour of South America when he became ill from a “harmful and unusual bacterial infection.” John was rushed to hospital upon landing back in England.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the musician said that he had since been sent home and that his recovery was ongoing, but the infection that caused his illness was “rare and potentially deadly”.

John gave his own statement, apologising to fans, and thanking his doctors. “I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well,” he said.

While Sir Elton has cancelled his remaining gigs in April and May, he intends to resume performing in June, with a representative for Chugg Entertainment confirming he intends to fufil his touring obligations in Australia this September.
