Eskimo Joe Are Celebrating Their 21st With A National Tour In 2018

Paint your fingernails black and load up on red wine, because Aussie rockers Eskimo Joe have announced a 2018 national tour celebrating 21 years as a band, and they’ll be performing with some huge symphony orchestras.

Kav Temperley, Stu MacLeod and Joel Quartermain will be hitting up venues in Perth, Sydney and Hobart as part of the tour, which will see hits like ‘Black Fingernails Red Wine’ and ‘Foreign Land’ get symphonic makeovers.

It’s unclear if the band plan to announce shows in other states, but they’re also scheduled to perform in Queensland next year as part of the ‘Hotter Than Hell’ tour. Catch all the tour dates, below.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s been 21 years since Kav, Stu and I first got together to make music,” says Quartermain.

“What started as scraping enough instruments together to jam tunes in share house lounge rooms led us to a lifetime’s worth of incredible experiences.

“From being able to write and record six albums, tour to all points of the globe and share stages with many of our heroes, our 21st anniversary seems like the perfect opportunity to look back and be grateful for the amazing ride that Eskimo Joe has taken my brothers-in-music and I on.”

Since forming in Fremantle in 1997, Eskimo Joe have sold over 750,000 albums in Australia, with over 35 ARIA Award nominations to boot. The band first announced plans for big birthday celebrations in August, and now those big things have come to fruition.

“Now, after 21 years, I still have that sense of wonderment every time we achieve things, play together and write new stories,” says Temperley.

“I’m extremely grateful for the friendship that I’ve had with Stu and Joel over the years, and the amazing support of our community who’ve loved our music. This needs to be celebrated, Happy 21st Birthday Eskimo Joe.”
