Written by John Ritchie on December 29, 2011

Falls Festival kicked off in Lorne yesterday and punters are now pouring into the festival site at Marion Bay in Tasmania. Police have issued a warning to festival goers confirming that they will have sniffer dogs and random breath testing units operating at the entrance to the festival.

A statement from Tasmanian Police reads:

During the event security staff will be supported by uniformed and plain clothes police. Drug detector dogs will also be present as is the case with any major significant public event. Drivers will be subject to random breath testing…Tasmania Police will again conduct a major Random Breath Testing operation on 1 January at the conclusion of the festival.

UK iconic indie band, Arctic Monkeys, will bring in the new year at Lorne while The Kooks will bring the Tasmanian’s into 2012 at Marion Bay, view full timetables below.
