Festival Ticketing Glitches Leave Punters Empty-Handed

Ticketing glitches have interrupted sales to both the Meredith Music Festival 2014 and Falls Festival 2014 this week, with the latest announcement coming this morning from Aunty Meredith, that due to technical issues with their website, tickets that were due to go on sale today at 11am won’t be available until next week.

“The system was not going to function smoothly so the decision was taken to postpone the allocation entirely,” said Meredith in a statement. They also added that the fault does not lay with Oztix, but with the Meredith website. Read the full statement below.

As usual, tickets to Meredith Music Festival 2014 are only available by successful ballot winners, ensuring tickets go to Meredith subscribers. The only type of ticket available is the Full Meredith Experience which is for three days and two nights and includes camping and parking. A new time and date for Meredith 2014 ticket sales will be announced soon.

The news follows technical issues that plagued the Falls Festival ballot ticket sales yesterday, where punters with ballot access trying to purchase 3 and 4 day passes for the festival were left frustrated and angry while experiencing difficulties in finalising their transactions.

According to the statement from Falls, the demand for tickets was bigger than previous years and customers trying to buy the passes were confronted with confusing messages about “invalid codes” rather than being informed that the tickets were, essentially, already sold out.

While Meredith ballot holders took things in their stride, the Falls Festival glitch left many punters angry and they quickly took to the Falls Festival Facebook page to vent their frustrations. “So the website crashed halfway through my booking and now I can’t use my code again? Great,” wrote one. “What’s the point of having the ballot if so many people get a code that no one can get tickets??,” said another.

According to Falls, there are still some 2 day tickets available for the Lorne event and a small allocation of all tickets will be available in the general public sale, next Wednesday the 3rd September at 9am AEST.

Meanwhile, general public tickets to the Soundwave Festival 2015 went on sale this morning and so far seem to be going relatively smoothly, despite some initial confusion between “Day 1” and “Day 2” festival passes.

Meredith Music Festival will take place on Friday, 12th until Sunday, 14th December at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, which will be graced by the likes of The War On Drugs, Ty Segall, and De La Soul.

Falls will make its usual stops Marion Bay and Lorne, as well as Byron Bay from Sunday, 28th December until Wednesday, 31st December. The first lineup includes, Alt-J, Röyksopp & Robyn, The Black Lips, Cold War Kids and Glass Animals.

Stay tuned to Music Feeds for the new Meredith ticket sales date when it is announced.

UPDATE 01/09/14: Meredith Music Festival organisers have announced that tickets for the festival’s 2014 iteration will go on sale at 11am AEST Friday, 5th September. Tickets will be available via this link.
