Florence Welch To Star In New ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy?

Florence + The Machine singer Florence Welch is slated to star in the new Star Wars trilogy, with the pop singer being considered to play a major role in the films, according to reports, despite her lack of acting experience.

The Sun says Welch has caught the eye of casting directors for the new films, quoting an anonymous insider as saying that Flo has exactly the style they’re looking for:

“She has done some acting but it was her singing on stage that initially caught the eye. Almost every actress in Hollywood wants a role in the new movies but we are keen to cast people who are unexpected.

Florence is being considered for a major part that would turn her into an A-list actress overnight.”

The Star Wars franchise was sold to Disney last year for a whopping £2.6 billion (approximately $4.1 billion AUD). The new trilogy is being directed by JJ Abrams and written by Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt, with Episode VII to start filming in early 2014. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all expected to reprise their roles.
