Flume Shares Arcade Fire ‘Afterlife’ Remix

Sydney producer and perennial remix wizard Harley Streten, aka Flume, has shared a 10-minute long remix of Arcade Fire‘s Reflektor hit Afterlife, reinterpreting the song with an uber-chilled electronic aesthetic.

Flume’s Afterlife remix (below) begins enveloped in spacey synthesizers and the choral “Aah”s of the Arcade Fire original. The gripping vocals of the band’s frontman Win Butler are layered over the top, building the anticipation for several minutes until the track’s laid-back dance-friendly vibe surfaces.

Flume’s Afterlife remix follows on from some impressive previous re-workings, which have included a take on Lorde’s smash hit Tennis Court as well as an rejigging of Chet Faker’s Gold.

According to Pitchfork, the Flume remix of Arcade Fire’s Afterlife will be released as a limited edition 12″ vinyl at a later date. Listen to the track in full, below, alongside the instantly recognisable original.

Flume is set to perform at Listen Out 2014 this September. Full festival details are available here.
