Argentine folk singer, Facundo Cabral was shot and killed in Guatemala on the weekend at the age of 74. He was on tour and making his way from his hotel to the airport for more shows when he was ambushed. He was one of the most well known musicians in Latin America and his death has stirred emotions amongst thousands of fans.
Reports are that the bullets were aimed at the tour manager who was in the car with him and police said they were investigating whether the shooting was a robbery or a targeted attack.
President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela tweeted: What pain! We cry with Argentina and all of our great fatherland.
Cabral first became famous in the early 1970s as a protest singer in Argentina.
In 2008, Cabral said: I love life so much because it cost me so much to enjoy it. From the cradle to the grave is a school, so if what we call problems are lessons, we see life differently.
